I really liked this novel. One of the reasons that we enjoy a book so much is that the reader can make a connection with the main character. In this story, Ada, is born with a club foot. My mother was born with a club foot that was partially corrected through many surgeries in the early 1930's. Ada has more to deal with than just a club foot as the second World War gets underway.
I can see why this is such a popular read. Very witty writing.
I've seen this book kicking around for awhile and grabbed it at the same time as I took The Sisters Brothers. It has pictures. Well-written story about hope and determination.
I nipped by the school library in July to see if I could find a good book and grabbed this one off the shelf. A western! Two gun-slinging killers on a road trip to extinguish the life of yet another poor soul. Very entertaining!
